THEN: From History of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity 1885 to 1928 by Esther Barney Wilson:
Zeta Zeta Chapter, Boston, Massachusetts, was organized as an alumnae chapter November 9, 1909. Through the efforts of Estelle McFarlan Dunkle and Evangeline Bridge, both of Zeta, a sufficient number of alumnae were found in the vicinity of Boston and the charter was granted by the Grand Council in the spring of 1909. On November 9 in Boston a business meeting and luncheon were held, and the charter was signed. The charter members were: Estelle McFarlan Dunkle, Evageline Bridge, Sarah D. Morton, Gladys Livingston Olmstead, Blanche Ripley, all of Zeta, and May Allison, Iota and Gamma Gamma. The chapter is in close touch with Zeta chapter which she assists socially and financially.
Zeta Zeta was a pioneer in the war work and from her ranks the chairman of the French Orphan Committee was chosen. Zeta Zeta supported one orphan for five years and two orphans for three years. In 1921 Zeta Zeta again became one of the pioneers of the new altruistic work undertaken by the fraternity by establishing on the children's scholarships. The scholarship child adopted was a girl entering a musical course at the New England Conservatory, and the assistance given her was continued throughout her entire course. The chapter has been especially interested in refurnishing the Alpha Chi Omega studio at the MacDowell Colony.
